Microsoft 365 eDiscovery
What is Microsoft 365 eDiscovery?
eDiscovery is the systematic process of identifying, collecting, and managing digital information for legal and regulatory purposes. eDiscovery is crucial because it ensures that we can efficiently retrieve electronic data when needed for legal matters, reducing the risk of costly litigation, and helping maintain compliance with laws and regulations.
As part of the Microsoft Purview product family, Microsoft 365 eDiscovery has features to identify, preserve, collect, process, analyse, review, and produce content that is responsive to internal and external investigations. It includes data discovery and case management tools, allowing us to put data on Legal Hold and search for data related to eDiscovery cases.
Business benefits
Efficient data retrieval: eDiscovery automates data retrieval, enabling swift access to electronic evidence for legal cases, audits, or investigations.
Risk mitigation: eDiscovery identifies and addresses legal and compliance risks, protecting our organisation’s reputation and finances.
Cost savings: eDiscovery reduces manual data search costs, optimising resource allocation for legal proceedings and compliance efforts.
Key things to know
Privileges are only granted to dedicated admin accounts, and access to eDiscovery must be approved by business.
