Microsoft SharePoint Online
What is SharePoint Online?
SharePoint Online is a content management and collaboration platform that integrates with other Microsoft 365 applications. It is the backbone for information storage in many Microsoft applications.
SharePoint online makes it easy to store and manage content, co-create and collaborate, and share information and files in a secure way with colleagues and clients.
With a clean and easy to use navigation, you can quickly create dynamic, mobile-friendly sites and pages, share ideas, ask questions and get answers from across our network.
There are two types of sites, project team site and communications site.
What’s the difference between a project team site and a communications site?
Communications site: broadcast information out to a broad audience. Typically, only a small set of members contribute content that is consumed by a much larger audience.
Project team site: all or most members can contribute content to the site and the information is limited to only the members of the team or project and specific stakeholders.
In both types of SharePoint Sites, you can:
Collaborate with your team
Share files, data, news, and resources
Customise your site to streamline your team’s work
Collaborate effortlessly and securely with team members inside and outside your organisation
The two most common use cases for SharePoint are being a site user and a project team site owner.
Site users: Navigate both project team sites and a communication site as you would any other website
Project site owners have full control of a SharePoint site
